FAQ
Swedish Massage
What is Swedish Massage?
Swedish Massage uses long, flowing strokes, kneading, tapping, and other rhythmic techniques designed to release muscle tension and provide gentle relaxation. Swedish Massage is gentler than deep tissue massage and better suited for people interested in relaxation and de-stressing.
What are the key benefits of Swedish Massage?
Swedish massage can relieve tight muscles caused by daily activities such as sitting in front of a computer or playing sports. Swedish massage is used to warm up muscle tissue to release toxins, tension and pain. The stroking movements are longer and slower than in many other forms of massage. Swedish massage can help reduce the symptoms of depression, stress and anxiety. Some of the symptoms that could be treated with massage therapy are back pain, headaches, muscle problems and other chronic pains. Massage is also associated with boosting immunity.
What technique will the therapist use?
An RMT manipulates the body’s soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments, and blood vessels) and uses stroking motions that flow to the heart and improve circulation. Swedish massage can help reduce the symptoms of depression, stress and anxiety. Your therapist uses effleurage to apply organic oil or lotion to warm your body. This helps prepare your muscles and connective tissues to comfortably accommodate deeper pressure and a more forceful touch for the remainder of the session.
Is Swedish Massage good for seniors?
Regular Swedish Massages give seniors an improved quality of life, more energy and they feel younger and healthier overall. They are ideal for seniors who have sensitive skin and tissue. Swedish Massage therapy offers numerous benefits for the body. It helps relieve joint and muscle pain and may even reduce the increased stress that comes with ageing.
How is Palliative Massage beneficial?
Since the client's tissues and organs may be deteriorating and fragile, the use of gentle and soothing Swedish Massage techniques are utilized. A relaxation massage is given with a focus on those areas the client requests. Pure certified organic essential oils like rose or bergamot are used with a certified organic almond oil or MCT oil. The essential oil helps with stress and to reduce anxiety.

- Renews and balances energy levels by working with the three higher chakras.
- Relieves symptoms of depression and anxiety through relaxation.

What technique will the therapist use?
A typical Indian head massage treatment usually starts with the shoulders, working into this area especially as it often holds a lot of tension. The upper back may also be massaged working around the shoulder blade. Following this, flowing motions will move up the neck massaging and stretching to relieve any stress and tension. Finally, the scalp is then massaged along the acupressure points on the head, followed up by the forehead and the area around the eyes. The upper back and arms can also be massaged depending on the techniques being used. This massage may be coupled with organic oils, which condition the hair and promotes growth and healthy skin.
